Hola, MÁS Magazine readers!

Can you believe those holiday-themed commercials are out there ALREADY?! Oh well, it's still nice to look forward to the holidays. Halloween is this weekend and Thanksgiving right behind it. That means it's time for our November 2009 issue of MÁS in The Bakersfield Californian, our parent company, Sunday, Nov. 1. If you subscribe to the paper, that's great — your MÁS will be inserted into your Sunday edition.

If you don't take the paper, don't worry, you can still find MÁS in single-sale copies of The Californian and free copies of MÁS at our various rack locations. For a list of where to find our racks, select the "rack locations" tab located on our home page, click here.

But for now, we'd like to thank all our loyal MÁS readers & advertisers out there! We appreciate all your support and encouragement! We couldn't do it without you! ¡Muchas, muchas gracias, amigos!

And now, we'd like to give you a sneak preview of what you'll find in the November 2009 issue of MÁS. It's our Health Issue for 2009.

The cover story is an inspirational profile of Dr. Dennis A. Martinez, an ER doctor at Bakersfield Heart Hospital. Learn how he made the sacrifices needed to enter the medical field. He also makes sacrifices for the nation, spending five months in Iraq as part of a medical unit.

In addition, we update you on the fate of CSUB's Latino Studies program; attend a bone marrow drive for a local businesswoman; provide a healthy recipe for a Latin favorite; and even chat with funnyman George Lopez, who's about to get his own late-night talk show! That's a wide variety of reading, so get your copy of MÁS — then take a break this weekend and sit and enjoy the magazine!

For a preview of what you'll find in this Sunday's, Nov. 1, issue, click on the headline or the photo for each item, and you'll go straight to the article on our Web site:
