“Mom, Pepe Aguilar is coming to Bakersfield. Quieres ir?” I asked mi mama as soon as I read the MAS Magazine email alert a while back about tickets going on sale.

“Ay! SI! Cuando?” she asked.

Then I called my sisters. One said she wasn’t interested.

The other one said, “heck Yah”.

And so, we made our plans, even that long ago. Then at the last minute, my husband’s grandmother decided she wanted to go too. I checked for ticket availability and sure enough. There was some tickets left.

I took them out to dinner at PF Changs. At first I was worried we weren’t going to have enough time. Luckily we got our table faster than the hostess had guessed we would. While we waited, I got my mom tipsy off an Asian Pear Mojito. As soon as the waiter came to get our drink order(I ordered my mom a WATER)  I told him we were in a hurry, could he please go ahead and take our food order as well. So he did.
Later, he asked where we were off to. I said to the Pepe Aguilar concert to which he replied, “To the who?what?” hahahaha. I said, “It’s ok, we forgive you for not knowing who he is. Just serve us our food. And FAST.” We all laughed.
Nana asked for a hot tea to drink. The waiter said, "HOT TEA? With the weather being so hot out? Ugh. Why don't you try our something something iced tea (I forget what it was called.) She didn't seem too convinced but was willing to try it. We finished our dinner and the tea never got there. It was just as well, since she was content with the water. But we still had to tease him about it later.
"You made such a big deal about the iced tea but we never saw it? Does it even exist or were you pulling our leg?" hahaha...
Even though he forgot the tea he was very prompt with everything else and he was pleasant to talk to. It was a nice dining experience.
Then we were off to our concert. It was a GREAT evening. Pepe Aguilar is not only talented, but he’s a great performer. Even if you’d never heard his music before you would have appreciated his performance. He’s THAT good.

I just wonder what was going through his head when the girl in the front row gave him her hot pink g-string? At first he looked a little shocked/surprised. But he didn’t let it rattle him. He went on with his song and at the end of it he graciously returned them, with a kiss and some sweat off his forehead.

He’s definitely a class act. I hope he comes back next year! We’ll definitely be there again. My only regret is I forgot to take my camera.
