American Idol Concert at the Save Mart Center - Crazy and Not So Crazy Random Thoughts - Twinkie's Blog - Mas

We took the boys to the American Idol concert at the Save Mart Center this Thursday, July 3rd. Here's a brief summary of the night!
For starters...
Can I just say that by the quality of their voices and stage performance they were voted off at the time they should have? It's crazy. I didn't agree with some voting while the show was on, but honestly... with the exception of Carly, whom I think ROCKED the night...and Michael John who got the most standing ovations, everyone else was right where they belonged!
Kristi Lee Cook sang God Bless America song. Good call ... EVERYBODY STOOD UP AND a lot of us sang it with her. She's not as boring as before either. It's like she's learning how to move and act and OWN the stage.
I was impressed. So was Big Mickey.
While we'd watch her on American Idol he'd yell out to her image on the television, "Kristi you STANK. BUT.. you're still hot. You get MY vote."
Then he'd text his vote in on my cell phone.

Ramielie forgot some words and totally blanked for part of the verse. funny really. Hmm.... HOW did she make into the top ten??? LOL

Michael... wow WOW wow.... he was amazing and got more cheers and standing ovations than everybody (excluding the Davids.)
He came out singing “We Will Rock You.” The boys got on their feet and sang at the top of their lungs.
Then he sang “We are the Champs.” Could the crowd beeee any more excited? WOW!
I mean, it seems like the only two people sitting down are sitting behind me. I wonder if they got a good view of my J-Lo bootie swaying back and forth in front of them? hahhaa.

When David Archuleta came out singing Big Mickey was beside himself. I have never seen him more excited. (Except for when his woman Kelly was on stage, of course)
Oh, and one song David Archuleta sang called Angels.... I thought he was saying "I was killing Angels in hell" hahahhaha.... I wondered what song that was? I didn't recognize it.
So I went on google.com and found this video on youtube.com. I hope you enjoy it! And I'm glad to report he's actually singing, "I am loving Angels instead." I have NO idea how that even is remotely close to sounding like, "I am killing Angels in hell" but whatever.

David Cook was next and he came out in a Fresno Bulldogs baseball jersey. I thought that was really cool of him to do that in honor of the great work the Fresno Bulldog's baseball team did this year.
David did a great job of course! He's the real reason I bought the American Idol tickets in the first place, you know! So that THESE BOYS could watch their favorite Idol in action.. LIVE!

Throughout the season we would sit and watch the show together and we'd yell out our thoughts on their performances.
We were tougher than Simon Cowell, lemme tell yah!
Anyways, my favorite for a while was Jason Castro but somewhere down the line it's like he lost it. He just didn't care anymore. Or it was all just too much for him. He seemed exhausted.
The main reason I really liked him is because he reminds of what my Big Mickey will look like when he grows up.

Anyways.. back to David Cook. Annequin loved David Cook from the beginning and voted for him and only him throughout the show. That kid can spot talent when he sees it!

David C’s first song is “Hello.” Second song is “Time of My Life” then he sings “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.” He rocks those songs, by the way.
But really.. his best song yet had to be his "encore" when he sang Billie Jean by Michael Jackson....
WOWOWOWOOWOWOOWOWOW.
His rendition of Billie Jean.. that right there is the reason he is America's Idol!

Oh, and I heard at one of the first concerts there were streamers coming down at the end of the show. We didn't get any streamers at the end. Cheap bastards! hahahaha.

Anyways, that was the end of a great night. Hope you enjoyed my recap!

Okay, I am laughing so hard right now at the "killing angels in hell" thing, THAT is hilarious! I think you are referring to the Robbie Williams song, right? Love that song by the way. I'm sad we didn't go this year, it's probably better though because last year there were 4 of us in the front row and almost ended up brawling...classy eh?

Jul 8, 2008 at 07:07 PM : I was bummed I...

I was bummed I couldn't go last year so I was bound and determined I was getting there this year. Especially since my boys really enjoyed this season.

I'm glad we went! The concert ROCKED. David Cook did GREAT and he interacted a lot with the audience. He had everybody excited and standing up and cheering the whole time he was on stage. Plus he does this thing where he wants to videotape the audience with his own personal video recorder and so everyone stands up and cheers for him. He sang his songs, then did two songs for the encore. then the whole top ten come out and do another encore. It's a great show.

Each of them did a fast-ish song and a slow song and when Brooke was doing hers I wanted to fall asleep but other than that it was a great show.

Even when Ramie forgot the words to a song.. she recovered well and did a good job with the rest.

Oh and I don't know why I didn't mention this before.. but Chekezi? (sp?) did an awesome job. WOW. If he would have been that good during the show I would have continued to vote for him. If he gets a record deal, I am definitely buying his CD!
