That's Okay Twinkie, I wouldn't had heard it ringing anyway. It was set on Vibrater and in my car. I was wondering what that buzzing sound was when I was driving. I thought it was a bee and opened all the windows so it would fly out. Brrrrr that wind was cold !! Have a Super Sunday today and a Super Tuesday, Tuesday. Remember the Super letters......."H.C"

thanks Amber. The kids are still bummed and talk about her with nothing but good memories. We are sorta getting used to Lola but poor girl. She has big shoes to fill. Though she's a cute and has a great personality so I'm sure she'll do just fine.

Twinkiw- I am soooo sorry to hear about Zoey. Losing animals is losing a part of your family. Big hugs to you and your clan. And I am glad that you got Lola. It isn't replacing Zoey at all, it's sharing the love you have with another animal, who deserves to be as loved as much as you guys loved Zoey. -ofvlwAmber

We got a new puppy this past weekend. She's a Boston Terrier. This isn't the best picture because my camera phones sucks, but here it is anyways.... Isn't she precious? She's my little angel! Her name is Lola! Nana thinks she looks like George Lopez. Bug eyes and a big head. ha. I guess I can see that.

We kinda felt like we weren't being loyal to Zoey by "replacing" her. At the same time, the boys really loved having a companion around so we decided to get a new puppy. We even tried looking for a chihuahua mix just like Zoey then decided if we couldn't find one just like her we didn't want a chihuahua at all.

You know I tried..first one was to lose weight by eating better, run more... But it's so hard turning down chocolate and then it's been so cold to go running..excuses right? Second was to drink (alcohol) less, maybe once a month..that didn't work either so I am drinking in moderation..hehehe

I was googling El Cipitillo and came across your post. I am glad Latinas are finally getting the word out that we are all the same. My mother was just like yours, maybe worse, but she has come around as well.

I have begun spreading the word about all the wonderful legends from the "Old Countries" that first-generation Americans are missing out on. My mother's side of the family are all immigrants from El Salvador. I grew up listening to the tales of La Ziguanaba and El Cipitillo, and I couldn't believe my friends had never heard of them. I just published a book ( The Isle of Cipit ) based in El Salvador and an island off shore. I am bringing a lot of these Salvadorean characters back to the mainstream, with a twist. I am so glad I'm not the only one who not only appreciates her culture, but also KNOWS it. Keep up the good work!

By the way, the Filipinos and most asian countries have very similar legends too. Todos somos hermanos - de muchos colores, paises, sangre y corazon. It is up to mujeres like us to keep opening the eyes of our readers!

Plus, I agree with you, Joe. It's better to learn from the mistakes of others so we don't follow that path ourselves!

Crazy and Not So Crazy Random Thoughts : ""My Life Sucks""

That's what I've been saying Twinkie but you say it more dramatically, like a slap on the face and yelling ,"WAKE UP"!!

I guess at some point in time, everyone's life sucked eh? I know mine did until I had my last accident in 1994. Well, it really didn't suck that bad but someone up above was trying to send me a message that I needed to change my lifestyle......and that's why I had my motorcycle accident.

During those 6 months of rehabilitation and looking out my livingroom window while the world was passing me by, I figured I had another opportunity in life to be a better person. So I started thinking more positive and figured out that everything happens for a reason. If it's a good thing, that's GREAT but if it's something bad, than we should evaluate our lives and figure out what lead to that bad thing happening. What could we had done to prevent it from happening. I know that we all make mistakes and we all learn from our mistakes........at least we should learn from them. Some of us never do and keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

But my way of thinking is........... It is better to keep one step ahead by learning from someone else's mistakes so that you won't make those same mistakes yourself. If you see someone tripping over something, watch what they are tripping over and make sure you take a different path to avoid getting tripped up yourself.

If you want to change for the best but don't know where to start, contact someone who you think can help you by leading you in the right direction. Remember it is easier to go with the flow but if you really want to acheive something, you have to work for it and let me tell you, it feels a lot better when you earn something than when it is given to you.

Oh by the way Twinkie, "My life sucked and I changed it".

Looking for better and more positive things in the new year!!

I really does. And it's ok to be scared to "take the plunge" but damn... once you do you realize how much easier it is to make wise choices in the long run.

I mean, sure, at the very moment you're making it it's easier to jump into whatever temptation it is you're succumbing to. But then the repercussions are longer and they usually lead to more harm than good.

But if you take the time to take a deep breath and just DARE TO SAY NO to whatever the temptation is, then aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. SWEET SWEET life!

I woke up this morning (1-1-08) and thought about what I wanted to change to make things better. I figured if I made it into a resolution, I probably wouldn't accomplish it but if I go with the flow, things may turn out to be pretty cool. I should follow my doctor's orders and drink more red wine. Yeah he says it's good for our blood and makes it circulate more perky. Does that mean it will make me a more perky guy? The results I've seen is that it makes me sleep better but so does milk. Got Milk? He says I should not eat red meat. Well, whenever I eat a steak, I always order it Well Done.....so I guess I'm following his orders and this would be a good resolution to make because I like my meat well done!!.

One thing I do that I shouldn't do is watch TV when I work and I should resolve not to but if I don't, I won't get no work done. I think this would not be a good resolution so I'll keep my remote handy in my office. Sitting on my leather couch in the den is like taking a dose of sleeping pills cause as soon as I sink into it, I fall asleep. It doesn't matter if I have guest there and the music is loud, I just crash when I sink. So my resolution is to stay off that couch and just sit anywhere else but there. One thing I don't do very well is breakfast so I should make a resolution to have a good breakfast but if I did, I wouldn't be able to have a good lunch so I think it's best for me to just eat when I can as long as there's no red meat eh? That cancels this resolution.

I have a bad habit of putting gasoline in my car at the last moment. I mean I'm always running around and hate to waste my time so I drive by the gas stations when I should pull into them. So I tend to ignore that yellow lit up warning light that says, "Gasoline Level Low". When my car finally starts coughing, I finally realize that it's time to fuel my tank otherwise I'd be pushing. I then drive to the nearest gas station with a raw egg under my shoe. So this resolution would be a good thing right? Especially if I want to keep my appointments.

One resolution I should definitely do is pay my bills on time instead of procrastinate till the due date. I find that if I hang on to that money by not paying the bill, I have a little bit more to spend but then I'm stuck with a late fee and I end up paying more so this resolution is a must. I find that looking for resolutions is easy. You just have to weigh the pros cand cons and stay firm to what you resolve to do. There are many resolutions that need to be made but if I made them all, I'd have to change my personality. That may not be a bad thing and it may make me a better person but than I would have to get a new password to log in to MAS so I'd better reserve most of those resolutions.

Well, That's all the resolutions I have for now because I got to break the new resolution my wife suggested earlier this morning and that is to eat less Mexican bread. The problem is........... I stopped at a Panaderia in Lamont, on the way home today and bought some pineapple empanadas and other miscellaneous panes. Well, not eating Mexican bread to me is like not putting gasoline in my car, not paying my bills on time, not turning on my TV when I work and sitting on my leather couch instead of the chair. Everything would stop to function.

So you see, some resolutions are good and some are bad so make sure you make some good ones and do your best to keep them. Think of the pros and cons and you'll be very successful in your resolutuions and goals. Does anyone have any other ideas for some great resolutions?

MAS is a great little community. I think that more participation will take time but with our encouragement it will happen!

Thanks for your kind words as well. I like writing here. It keeps my mind busy and like you, one day I hope to capture my stories and somehow turn it into a novel of some sort. Just not sure what kind of novel will turn out. The crazy VEGAS me, the mom, wife, student? who knows? Only time will tell, right?

Thank you Twinkie. You always have kind words to say about everyone and I'm sure you're rich with friends. Keep up the good work at home, your job, at MAS & BAKO. Your encouragement cheers us up and your upbeat stories places smiles on our faces. There's gotta be $$ in your articles eh? It would be nice if the "silent readers" got MAS involved in MAS and placed their own articles and/or comments in here. Let's make MAS online a place where we want to be whenever we sit in front of our computers..

Have I mentioned lately....? : "I'm just here for snacks, mister!"

I agree, Vero... it's the "norm" for women to get married and have children even in todays advance women liberated world. If men in Hollywood are single after 35 they get put in the "Most Eligible Bachelor's" list all over major magazine publications. If a woman in Hollywood is single after 35 she does tons of interviews apologizing or finding excuses as to why she isn't married with children. It's ridiculous.

When I was 25 I was still single and all my friends were married and I'd get all sorts of comments from them about how "don't worry the right one will come along" or "it's time to grow up, Norma and settle down" etc. Now these same friends are on their second or third marriage and I'm happily married to my man. So don't tell me I was better off rushing into things because it was "expected" of me like they did? I don't think so.

Do your thing. Be happy. Because happiness doesn't come after you get married or after you have children, or after you get that dream career. Happiness comes when YOU allow it to. And YOU.. and you too. (hee hee)

Maybe this is the reason I don't have children. God probably knows I'd beat my kids for being so disrespecful! Augh! I'm kidding. I wouldn't beat them... hard. heh.

This is one of the reasons I hate going to the movies when teenagers are present. I know not all kids are like that but it seems like the loud, obnoxious ones always in the seat right behind me. Gah!

DUDE! If my kids acted like that, and a someone was calling them out on it, I would totally back the person up. That's just me though. It takes a village to raise a child. yah know?

And honestly, I really did feel like getting all ghetto on those kids. THEN on their mom, who did NOT appreciate the "help." Instead of apologizing to that man and feeling embarrassed that her kids were THAT disrespectful, she chose to degrade the man. She should be ashamed, as should the lady at the toy store that Mike Hart experienced.

Can you imagine if those were YOUR kids acting like that??? I'm sure you can't and neither can I, I'm glad I wasn't there with you, because it would have been ugly, of course, there's NOTHING you can do, and at that point the only thing you can do is get physical with them...and then go to jail for it. Seriously, some kids these days are sooooooo disrespectful and as you saw, most of learning how to be that way comes from the parents. I'm sorry that bitch and her disrespectful kids ruined your evening, I really am.

WOW!!! Great respsonse with awesome information. Thanks! Now I know what to do when MR. Twinkie leaves his shoes in the middle of the floor at night AGAIN and I trip and fall over them AGAIN and bruise. muahahaha...

Just kidding about that, but serious about being impressed with your response. It makes more sense to me now. Well, in the LEGAL standpoint anyways. I think where that dude went wrong is that:

#1. He confessed to harming his doggie.

#2. the sucka got stuck with an avid doggie lover. oops.

You know one thing I can say about my honey and I is that I can count on ONE HAND the amount of times we've raised our voices to each other during a disagreement. There's just no need for it. I know it's easier said than done but when we first got married we made a promise to each other that we'd NEVER disrespect each other by yelling at each other or calling each other names and we've pretty much kept that promise.

I LOVED this story. So funny. And so true. Things like that you just learn from experience unless you're fortunate enough to have a friend (like you in this case) that has gone through something similar and knows how to deal with it.

I know with my first child I took him to the doctor for EVERY LITTLE THING until I eventually learned when his symptons warranted a doctors visit and when it was nothing a little "Te de Manzanilla" or other home remedies couldn't cure. Gracias a mi mami, que me dio el consejo!

Ghost stories...hmmm...I remember when I was little I went to Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego. Suposidly one of the floors was haunted by a lady who had once commited suicide there. My mom suggested we take the elevator to that floor. No one was allowed to have a room there because of too many ghost complaints. So my brother and I take an old elevator up to the floor scared out of our minds. We get to the floor and walk down the hall towards the room that was haunted. Suddenly my brother and I heard a woman screaming. Both of us looked at each other wide eyed and started screaming and ran back towards the elevator. My brother screaming in a higher pitch than me! We get to the elevator and go back down to the lobby. TO this day I have no idea why we heard screaming, but it's hilarious to think about how scared we got. :)

Hey, hey, now Twinkie! :) LOL haha... Yes, Earlimart did have a laundromat. I think two actually. Woofs did you guys go to the one by Campos store?? haha

I remember those days too. I never even imagined what a hassle it was for my mom to go to the laundromat with 4 kids. Oh and we didn't have a car, but she did have a double stroller for my two younger siblings. She would fill that stroller with as many clothes as she could. It was mine and my brother's job to pick up anything that fell on the floor as we walked to the laundromat. On rare occasion, my mom would give us a quarter to play the arcade games inside. :) Ahhh... the good ol' days! :)

By the way, I was hoping you would be at the Nile for Dia de los Muertos last week. :)
