My favorite memory of the Kern County Fair would have to be going for the first time with family when I was about 8 years old. Our family did not have much money at the time so this was a real treat. My sister and I were so excited and couldn't wait to get on all the rides and taste the great food we'd heard so much about from our friends! I remember going into the photo booth with my sister and making silly faces. My dad even won us each a stuffed animal to take home! We had a great time and now it's one of my fondest childhood memories.

Let's see....how many times have I been to the K.C. Fair? Well, I've worked the beer booth one year, a food booth another year, worked with KCSO reserves numerous times and a spectator numerous other times. I have a lot of fond memories but of all the times I've been there, working security for Antonio Aguilar, Flor Silvestre and Tonito was one I will never forget. I was backstage with them and got to talk with Antonio a little bit. Another great time I had was when Vicente (chente) Fernandez performed and I was sitting 3 rows from the stage. Vicente was drinking what I thought was a lot of water during his performance. I later learned that it was tequila, not water and he drinks a lot during his performances. I've had a lot of bad moments there too but I won't go into those like when...........you thought I was going to tell you eh? QUE VIVEN LOS LOBOS !! RICHIIIIIIIEEEEEE !!

Lets see, as a preteen, I loved all the scary rides especially the hammer. A carny worker used to let me get on free as much as i wanted. As an adult, I enjoyed the Freddy Fender and Willie Nelson concert. Two years ago my prima and I went with her boyfriend. We spent most of our time in the Villa Festiva drinking beer and eating good mexican food. Taking turns dancing to the mexican music. All and all, going to the fair is just good fun. Enjoying the food and entertainment with family and friends

My favorite time at fair was when I volunteered to take the handicap children to fair. The fair allows the kids to be kids and enjoy them selves. There is nothing like seeing the kids smile and laugh all through the ride. They have fun and they fordet about their disability. That is the fond memoires I have of the Kern County Fair.

Last year went to see cool and the gang had vip seats....went down to get some beer and as I was walking up the steps to my VIP Seats I was dancing looking at the band getting into the groove when I missed a step and fell right on my face with the beer all over me, and on my hair which ended up sticking up all over the place. I know the crowd thought I was part of the act it was so embarrassing but I sat down and enjoyed the rest of the show. This was before the girl told me to be careful and watch my step. I replied you better tell my sister who is behind me that has been drinking..yeah "maybe I should have been drinking...."yIKES"

I was lucky enough to go with both of my kindergarteners when their classes went to the fair. I have such sweet memories of my daughter and my son and their little friends. They were all so cute and very excited to see the animals. My kids are now 18 and 20. Time just goes by too fast!

The memory they I will cherish is when I take my kids to the fair every year and I am able to spend that Mommy and Me time with them. They are always anxious to see the animal exhibits and so forth. They are especially amazed with the birthing area for the cows and the baby chick eggs that are going to hatch. They could spend hours there, pero por Dios, I can't! But the best thing out of the whole experience of the fair is that I do enjoy seeing my kid’s happy faces.
