Fall is here, and cooler temperatures call for a wardrobe change.
This is a time when you should be working with layers. Typically, the mornings are much cooler than the afternoons. Wearing layers allows you to remain comfortable and look good through the warmer parts of the day.
Fall does not mean that Ugg sheepskin boots are OK.
Short skirts with Ugg boots are a fashion faux pas and something that would make me utter my catch-phrase, “Que Desastre!” (What a disaster).
I don’t want to wear the phrase out so don’t wear those boots.
It might be slightly cooler in coming days, but don’t go overboard with a full-on Eskimo suit. Remember, it’s not winter yet.
Both men and women should go for a comfortable look that is adaptable for temperature and climate changes.
Think outside the box and avoid looking dull. Wear different colors and look alive. Don’t look like you have given up on fashion by wearing the same sweat pants and matching plain hooded sweatshirts.
We asked local fashion connoisseurs to help come up with some tips to help you combine fashion and function this fall. Their tips helped us come up with a few outfit options for you.
Tip #1 “Jeans are the new staple piece.”
Tip #2 “No turned-up collars on Polos!”
Tip #3 “No Ugg boots, unless you are in the snow.”
Tip #4 "Always accessorize. Use bright colors, especially when you are wearing dark-colored clothing."
Tip #5 "Work with layers. Be sure what you are wearing underneath looks good without the coat or sweater you are wearing over it."
Tip #6 "Argyle, Argyle, Argyle. Sweaters, socks, even the back pockets of jeans."
Tip #7 "Guys, let go of tennis shoes, and dress it up a little."
Tip # 8 "Women say goodbye to monogram bags. It’s all about Indi Bags right now.
The more eclectic they look the better."
Tip # 9 "Black is back. A little of the goth trend is coming back."
Tip #10 "Go for fun shoes. Work with greens and other colors besides black and brown."
