Vicente “El Rey” Fernandez, considered the undisputed king of mariachi and ranchera music, had his sold-out audience swooning May 31 at Rabobank Arena.
Dressed in his trademark, intricate charro suit, Fernandez sang his biggest hits as the crowd of 10,000 enjoyed the concert that was 10 years in the making — that’s how long it took to book Fernandez here.
According to Rabobank officials, Fernandez’s concert — with tickets priced as high as $150 — is the most expensive event at the local venue to date.
Balladeer Paquita la del Barrio opened for El Rey.
