Hello and welcome back! Well this is my last weekend before my vacation to New York City, yup! I will be vacationing with my lovely daughter, MacKenzie. Her brother, Jonathan, decided to pass this year’s vacation. He’s a teen, what can I say?

Tonight the super-local Mike Montano Band will be jammin’ some good blues, classic rock, oldies and some Latin — all this at Pyrenee’s Cafe, 601 Sumner St. 8 p.m. to midnight 21/over with I.D. and no cover charge. For more info, 323-0053.

  2nd Annual Song & Celebration Outdoor Festival
Movin’ on, this Saturday come join the Ceaser E. Chavez Foundation along with MÁS magazine & Bakotopia as we celebrate the the 2nd Annual Song & Celebration Outdoor Festival featuring WAR singing their greatest hits, including “Lowrider,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends” and more. Also taking thestage are Mento Buru and Rock A Mole. This event kicks off at 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., so come on out and enjoy lots of food & beverage booths, do a little wine tasting and listen to some cool musica. Take pops to Thunder Run
This weekend you can take pops to the Fourth Annual Bakersfield Thunder Run. Check out the cool custom cars & bikes, the fashion show, the ultimate bikini contest, a Van Halen tribute Band, and Tru 2 Crue Motley Crue tribute band. All this taking place at the Kern County Fair-grounds, 1142 S. P St. Gates open at 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday & Sunday. Tickets are $15 bucksat the gate.

  Wine Fest 2008
This Saturday, the Kern County Museum Foundation is hosting this year’s Wine Fest 2008. Come and enjoy fine cuisine and lots of premium wines to taste, also a silent auction to end the evening. Advance reservations are required and tickets are $45 for members and $50 for non- members. For VIP table sponsorship or info call 852-5020.
