Q: Who has been your inspiration academically and why?
A: “Some people who have influenced my academic inspiration are my parents, family, friends, and most importantly, myself. My parents have had the largest impact on my academic well-being because they started showing me the importance of hard-work and perseverance at an early age. However, I have primarily kept myself motivated to continually improve academically. In addition, those around me on my school campus who exceeded my academic standing also inspired me to not only achieve my academic goals, but to maintain them as well.”
Q: What has been one of your most memorable high school moments?
A: “My time during high school was full of memories that I will continue to cherish the rest of my life, however, because I plan to surround myself in both vocal and performing arts for the rest of my life, the one high school memory that stood out the most was the time that my fellow choir classmates and I had the rare opportunity to sing in New York City’s Carnegie Hall, one of the world’s most prestigious concert halls in the world. Personally, the experience of singing at Carnegie Hall with some of my greatest friends was one of the most surreal and enthralling events of my lifetime.”
Q: What do you see yourself doing five years from now?
A: “In five years, I see myself as a graduate of Chico State with a degree in music industry, working in the music and performing industries in Southern California. I see myself possibly producing a self-titled music album, and broadening my horizons in both acting and film at the University of Southern California.”
Q: And 10 years from now?
A: “10 years from now, I see myself married and well into a career as both an actor and filmmaker graduated from the USC, as well as still working in the music industry. I also see myself possibly having one or two children, and still living in Southern California.”
Q: How do you plan to duplicate your success in high school at the university level?
A: “In order to duplicate my current success from high school at the university level, I plan on utilizing every advantage and opportunity that I am faced with, while staying as energetic and motivated as I was in high school, pursuing my dreams and aspirations confidently and wholeheartedly.”

College: UC Riverside
Major: Biochemistry
Q: Who has been your inspiration academically and why?
A: “My mom is the most important person in my life. When I was 2, my father left my mom, so she had to raise me all by herself. As if raising a child is not hard enough, her job is back-breaking. She was not able to go to school as a young girl. She knows what an education can change for a person, that’s why I owe it to her to be the first in my family to go to college. She has supported me all these years, and someday I hope I am able to take care of her. She encouraged me to go into medicine, and now that day has come. I would be thrilled if both our dreams came true.”
Q: What has been one of your most memorable high school moments?
A: “At school, I’m a part of the marching band. This is my first year, and even though I’m not the best, I am able to keep up with the rest of the band. The concept of marching might seem easy, but to get about 90 people to move their left foot at the same time is not that easy. I have to work even harder to march because I did not want to be the person that gets the band points deducted in a competition. Not after practicing about 11 hours a week. I’m a part of something special, and am proud of it. It’s like what our instructor Ryan Dembosky says: ‘We stand to attention not because we have to but because we are proud to be a part of something great.’ Our marching band is like a big family, and on the field we literally turn into one being.”
Q: What do you see yourself doing five years from now?
A: “I plan to get my biochemistry degree from UC Riverside, and I really want to go to UC San Diego for their graduate school in anesthesiology.
Q: And 10 years from now?
A: “I plan to have finished all my studies and become an anesthesiologist. I also plan to come back to my community and set up a program to help kids find a subject they like to get them through school.”
Q: How do you plan to duplicate your success in high school at the university level?
A: “The easiest way, I figure, is to know the smart people and to get to know mentors. That is why I signed up for the Honors Program at UC Riverside. The program helps with study skills, tutors, and other important information to help me attain my goals.”
