As the co-owner of east Bakersfield’s River & Wine market, Charlie Rodriguez is always busy helping customers.
But he also makes the time to get involved in as many community organizations as he can.
As a longtime community member, Rodriguez is very knowledgeable about Bakersfield’s history. Here’s a little more about the man behind the counter at River & Wine:
FAVORITE MUSIC: Country, mariachi and rancheras.
ROLE MODEL: “Anyone who does something for others.”
FAVORITE SAYING: “Very few people can stay out with owls at night and fly with eagles in the day.”
FAVORITE TV SHOWS: “Crime Scene Investigation.”
FAVORITE MEXICAN DISH: “Carne asada, rice and beans.”
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: “Community Action Partnership of Kern; Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Las Fiestas Inc., El Dia de la Mujer Hispana, Richard Prado-East Bakersfield Senior Center and the Kern County Museum Foundation, among others.”
Is there someone in the community that you would like to know more about? Nominate them! Send your “60 Seconds” suggestions to rortiz@masbakersfield.com or leave a message at 716-8646.
