Rudy Gutierrez served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963.   During Sgt. Gutierrez’s first year with the U.S. Army he was stationed in Germany, where he was chosen to attend the Non-Commissioned Officers School to train with the 10th Special Forces and was then promoted to sergeant after 1 ½ years.  His assignment was extended to serve during the Berlin Crisis when the wall was built.  Sgt. Gutierrez, then received an additional extension thereafter to serve during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  Sgt. Gutierrez received an honorable discharge as a Sergeant of the 7th Calvary Artillery Unit.  Later, Sgt. Gutierrez volunteered for Vietnam as an instructor.

Dad, Thank you for serving our Country and thank you to all the Chicano Veterans that served in the U.S. Military.
