Roobie —

It seems like only yesterday that she donned her favorite red Ropers with a denim skirt and was dancing up and down our sidewalk to any song that happened to be on the radio.

Her beautiful bouncing black curls and red rosy cheeks made everyones heart soften that she met.

Roobie is organized and on time. Our Lord has a great sense of humor as one may compare this mom to her daughter.

As I reflect on the past societal traditions of milestones met, I cannot help but wonder where the time has gone...

From kindergarten to kinder-Catholic and Jr. High to Roobie's Quinceanera, I remember when Father Rob read her letter at Mass and shared how she wanted to celebrate this tradition as a teenager of faith.

When she placed the bouquet of flowers before the Blessed Virgin Mary, the greatest saint of all, Roobie asked her to guide her and protect her.

I swallowed my tears and was humbled to think I was chosen as her parent.

I, too, prayed to be the best parent possible.

Throughout High School, Roobie has worked diligently to maintain great grades, has held many leadership positions, and knows that to be a leader, one has to be willing to serve without counting the cost.

She has enough community service hours for her entire graduating class and would gladly do it all again to help others.

I am amazed at her wonderful traits and thankful that she puts her talents to use for herself and others.

She has earned scholarships and awards for her active involvement in FFA.

She is not afraid of responsibility and does well with a a great  attitude.

She is beautiful both inside and out.

We are a family of modest means, but one of great faith. Roobie may not have been provided all the luxuries most teens today possess, but she is rich with faith, hope and love in action.

I am so blessed with Roobie as my hija. As the song says, "I hope you dance", but as we say, "Throw your chancla".

For life passes all too quickly and so I encourage Roobie to seize the day and to help others along to do the same.

She is Latina, a leader, and represents Love in Action.

Roobie, I love you and am proud of you as must be your Tios Ricky and Ruben.

Thank you for being a wonderful daughter and blessing! Con mucho Carino...

Your Mom, Audrey Chavez
