With the new school year around the corner, now is the time to start it off safe and healthy.
On Sunday, Aug. 12, MÁS Magazine will sponsor the 2007 Women’s & Children’s Health & Safety Expo from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the East Hills Mall, 3000 Mall View Road.
As part of its mission to serve its growing readership, MÁS Magazine will hold the event to promote the well-being of Latinos.
The focus will be on women’s and children’s health and offer
muchas consejos para el salud.
“The event is to entertain and benefit women and children. It’s (East Hills Mall) a great location. It’s very community oriented,” said Kimberly Mullins, event chairman and a consultant for Mercado Nuevo, the publishing company of MÁS Magazine. “We’ll be providing a lot of health and safety for our community’s well-being.”
Booths will be set up throughout the mall. Activities includes nutritional classes, First Aid training, dental screening, blood pressure checks, car seat installation by the Bakersfield Police Department, and physical activity stations.
Attendee can enter a raffle for a chance to win a $500 gift certificate for the East Hills Mall — just in time for back-to-school shopping.
“We get so busy at times with work or day-to-day activities that we fail to take care of our health needs,” said MÁS Magazine Managing Editor Olivia Garcia. “Even with food, we can get lazy and hit the fast-food restaurant. It’s my hope that this expo can help us in those areas, from coming up with healthy recipes that can be done pretty quickly at dinnertime or having our blood pressure check to make sure we are not letting problems like stress get in the way of our lives.
“Health topics have been a common issue of discussion for our readers. We want to improve our state of health and mind.”
In addition to the expo, the magazine will feature a special health and safety issue for its Friday, Aug. 10, issue to keep every busy
mujer y sus niños sanos y saludables.
