and not that this has anything to do with that quiz but I just have a random thought about this book. It has to do with Dr. Urbino and Fermina on their wedding night. Dr. Urbino's thoughts are as follows: "He was aware that he did not love her. He had married her because he liked her haughtiness, her seriousness, her strength, and also because of some vanity on his part, but as she kissed him for the first time he was sure there would be no obstacle to their inventing true love" (pg. 159). This is so true of that time but sometimes I wonder if it's even true of our time. Sometimes we marry because we THINK we're in love. But honestly TRUE LOVE comes AFTER marriage. After the dust is settled. After you live together. After all pretenses are left at the door and you become the REAL YOU. After the honeymoon is over. True love is something you both learn to "invent" together AFTER marriage. What do YOU think? Do you think I'm full of papas?
