*  Pilar Revuelta won an Oscar for Set Design of “Pan’s Labyrinth.”

*  Lorena Ochoa, 26, became the world’s No. 1 ranked female golfer and the sports first woman to make close to $3 million in one year.

*  In March, NASCAR further appealed to its growing Latino fan base when Colombian driver Juan Pablo Montoya won his first NASCAR Nextel Cup race at Sonoma, Calif.

*  Milka Duno became the first Latina to race in the Indy 500.

*  Still waiting on the DREAM Act that would give undocumented immigrant students a “conditional” status so they can attend college or serve in the Armed Forces.

*  Scandal hit the LA mayor’s office when it was confirmed that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa did indeed carry on an adulterous affair with Telemundo newscaster Mirthala Salinas.
