My family and I celebrate Cinco de Mayo by gathering at my grandfather's every year and having a barbeque. We catch up on each other's lives and discuss things ranging from current events to our latest accomplishments. Cinco de Mayo to me isn't about getting hammered like it is to most people but a day I look forward to because that day is our family reunion. A day of pride not only for our culture and community but a day of anticipation. I would love to discuss how I went to the Jazz Festival next year at our annual gathering!
I celebrated Cinco de Mayo at work -- I work at a Spanish radio station, I'd like to think that I contributed. I had dinner at La Cabaña with all my kids & my grandkids, they are the next generations to celebrate Cinco de Mayo!
I celebrated 5 de Mayo by informing my students what in reality is 5 de Mayo. 5 de Mayo is simply a battle that took place in Puebla when the French tried to invade Mexico. Not Mexico's Independence has many believe. 5 de Mayo is celebrated across the United States but not in Mexico! It's more of a Chicano culture/tradition to celebrate this date as it was Mexico's Independence. --Dion
Being a mom to be, I could not party like the rest of my friends. I spent the day with my family and just relaxed.
Well I have to say that Cinco de Mayo was very exciting. . .we spent all evening after work painting our living room and listened to Vicente Fernandez! WHHHOOOOHHHOOOOO! ~ thanks for asking! rubyg
I made the best Margaritas and cooked some tasty salmon for Cinco de Mayo.
