What’s up, and welcome back to In the Mixx. Summer is almost gone and Christmas is around the corner, lol. Labor Day weekend was boring, but Ice Cube just rolled through the Bakersfield Fox Theater and put on a very good show. Big up’s to those of you who attended the dirty, little funky thang, poolside party at the Wyndham Hotel last Saturday. Here are some cool events and places to attend this weekend:

Head north for something new
Tonight, Friday, Sept. 5, for that different nightclub feel, head out to Visalia, Calif. and check out Club The Blitz, 115 No. Locust St. This new hot spot is for the 21 and over with proper ID.

It features a full bar, cool drink specials and radio station Q97’s very own DJ Jess the mixaholic will be in the mix with all the latest hip hop, mash-up, r&b and dance for you to get your groove on, dress code is fashionably enforced , so look fly! Doors open at 9 p.m. More info at 559-627-2239.

It takes a Village ...
Village Fest (formally Brews in the Village) is going down this Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Kern County Museum, 3801 Chester Ave.

Come out and enjoy this cool party, sample over 30 of Bakersfield’s most popular restaurants serving good food, over a 100 different kinds of cold cerveza to sample, and of course, my favorite the VinoVillage with over 70-plus wines to sip.

There will also be several themed area’s to hang out and chill, 5 stage’s and over 17 of the hottest bands performing live. This party is for the 21-and-over w/ID. Tickets are $60 — hook them up at Frugattis Italian Eatery and Lengthwise Brewing or at all Wells Fargo Banks. Gates open at 6 p.m. and close at 10 p.m. More info at 661-323-2739.

Social Saturdays
Recording artist One Block Radius — whose first single, “You Got Me” is on rotation in every radio station in California — will be performing live this Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Replay Lounge  & Grill for Social Saturdays, 4500 Buck Owens Blvd.

Marty James, DJ MDA , Mc Z-Man will perform that song among other hits live on stage. Doors open at 9 p.m. and VIP bottle service is highly recommended, but you need to be 21 and have ID. Enforced dressed code, too. DJ’s in the mix: DJ Damage, D-Lay, and in the social room, DJ Micky Rock. For reservations, call 1-877-889-7064.
