SoLunita dances into la cultura
Our cover story this month is on SoLunita, a recently formed children's folklorico group. These niños y niñas are helping to keep the art of folklorico dancing alive. Thanks to the Fonseca family — who also started SoLuna, the very successful adult folklorico group here in Bakersfield — it looks like la cultura will be safe and sound for many generations to come. Don't miss this colorful feature!
East High hopelessly devoted to 'Grease'
East Bakersfield High School just completed its presentation of the musical, "Grease." It was very well received by packed audiences, who seemed to crave the hometown entertainment of these talented, young actors. One of those actors, Zachary Gonzalez (who played Eugene, the resident "geek" at Rydell High) writes about how the show provided much-needed escapism from the current tough economy — for the audiences and the cast!
Call out for quinceañera models
We're looking for Latino and Latina models, ages 14 through 17, for our next quinceañera show — if you've ever wanted the chance to walk down the runway, now's the time! The event isn't until June, but we need to get our models ready soon, so don't wait to express your interest. No professional modeling experience needed.

As such, many people felt a need to be there, to witness this history being made. Among the crowd that braved the chilly temperatures in Washington D.C. on Jan. 20 were the Audelos. Read about their inauguration experience and what it meant to them.
