    • The 14th annual Latina Conference at California State University, Bakersfield, hosted by Theta Sigma Chi Latina Sorority, is scheduled Monday, March 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union’s Multipurpose Room on the University campus. The admission to the conference is $8/student and $10/school representative/community members, lunch is included.
    • The students will be introduced to inspiring speakers and practical workshops that will help advance their road to success in reaching educational goals, enjoy their cultural identity, and make them aware of their developmental needs and services available to them on and off their campus community. Our invited speakers and workshop facilitators contribute to the educational, empowerment and public awareness promoted by our non-profit organization, Theta Sigma Chi. This year’s workshop topics include: It’s Your Choice by Therapist and CSUB Counseling Center Director Janet Millar, College101 Student Panel by Theta Sigma Chi Sisters, Let’s Talk: Parents and Children by Mexico’s Baja California Family Therapist, Rocio Magallanes, and "Make Your Dreams Come True—Wake Up!" from her chapter of Love Thyself, a Life Guide for Womenfrom author/playwright Mary Amelia Cavazos-Reyna and many other useful tools for each participant’s success. Students from local high schools will be attending the annual event titled, "Create Your Road to Success." High schools participating include Alpaugh High, Frontier High, Independence High, McFarland High, West High, Arvin High, Highland High, and other area schools/programs.
