Cinco de Mayo Fiestas Inc. of Delano is holding it's Queen Show at 6 p.m. Saturday at Delano High School.

The theme for the show is "La vida es un carnaval." Tickets to the scholarship pageant are $8. The winner will preside over the Cinco de Mayo four-day event that begins April 30 and goes through May 3 at Delano's Memorial Park.

The festivities begin with the grand marshal barbecue at the park on April 30. Profits for the event benefit local youth programs. Mariachi music will be provided by Mariachi Los Reyes.

The annual Cinco de Mayo parade will start at 10 a.m. Saturday on Main Street.

The carnival grounds will be open 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday. The grounds open at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and close at midnight.

Thursday is 50-cent rides, and Friday offers unlimited rides for $20 wristband.

A Menudo competition, with a $30 entry free, will be Saturday at Memorial Park.

Child-friendly activities and entertainment, such as pinatas and face-painting, will be available for the little ones from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday night, the headliner event is $10, and the bands include:  Los Morros del Norte, K-Paz de la Sierra, Los Nietos, La Ley de Michoccan and Lilina.
