Before we get into this month's issue, we'd like to tell you about TWO contests we are running.
The first is a pair of tickets to see Carlos Mencia on Friday, May 8. You can enter by simply replying to this post. There has to be more to it than that, you ask? Well, yes. We want you to describe in 200 words or less the Carlos Mencia comedy bit you like the best. Is it his hard-edged, no apologies look at stereotyping. Is it his use of "dee, dee, dee." Do you like his music videos?
You tell us. If you are original, stand out and make us laugh in the process, you could be going to see Carlos Mencia in person.
Deadline is Monday, April 27. Don't delay. You must be a registered user of this Web site, and be at least 18 years old to enter.

Our second is telling us in 200 words or less, why you love MÁS Magazine. If you are our winning entry, you will win SIX tickets to the Monterey Bay Aquarium (a $200 value).

We also wanted to send out our congratulations and shout outs to our boss, Olivia Garcia, who was recently promoted to VP/Content for The Bakersfield Californian and Mercado Nuevo, which publishes MÁS Magazine.
OK, with no further delay, here is your monthly sneak peek of MÁS Magazine! Our May 2009 issue officially publishes Sunday, April 26 — it is now inserted into home-delivered copies of The Bakersfield Californian, our parent company, on the last Sunday of each month. And for those of you who do not subscribe to the newspaper, MÁS will also be available in single copies of the April 26 Californian. Select locations will continue to offer MÁS for free in racks.
