A trip to Remember

At last, back from my wonderful trip to Mexico.

Just a two day drive which was easier said than done! But once having cross the border which separates these two countries it changes it all: different terrain from left to right. More buses, taxis, people, a whole new atmosphere

Anyhow, this trip was different from any other trip to Mexico. We had no parents on board this time and me and my sister decided to make this trip the most adventuresome trip to Mexico. For the most part we were successful. As we had the chance to not only interact with dolphins but to swim with them as well. We visited beautiful waterfalls in Michoacan which were truly stunning. We even had the chance to visit the legendary Vicente Fernandez's Ranch "3 Potrillos." I also experienced posadas, quincenearas, getting pulled over by the mexican military which was kind of scary. But all in all it was a great experience, one to certainly remember as one of the best trips to my parents homeland.

P.s I'll post pictures soon!

HOW FUN! YAY for you. I've never ventured out like that and sometimes I wish I had. I hope you take pictures and post them so I can live vicariously through you.

Reminds me of my drive to Guadalajra, Jalisco in my Nissan Sentra.  It was a 3 day 2 night trip.  Of course, the nights were spent in motels.  The trip through the highway toll road cost me $1330 pesos (about $130.00 US Dollars) plus the motel costs, but it was well worth it because the super freeway is super and well maintained.  My average speeds, and I'll admit this, was 85 mph but  since there were hardly any highway patrols on the freeway.....The countryside is beautiful and there was plenty of agricultural growth and water canals.  The drive from Guadalajara to Michoacan is also beautiful with a lot of greenery and volcanos dotting the state.  One of my favorites, of course, is Ijijic and Lake Chapala.  The highway there takes you through the "Tres Portillos".  This was my third drive to Guadalajara with my first one being in 1982.  I had promised my mother I would take her back to her roots and ours.  We met all our cousins there on my mother's side and since then have kept a very good family relationship.  We have a trip planned for Sept........for my wife and my birthday and a gran fiesta to celebrate it.
