Why we should ignore the protestors, and get to the truth.

Observing the recent protests at the Town Hall Meetings all over the country makes me realize how mcuh power the drug and insurance companies have over our heath care system. I'm outraged at the people who are showing up to these events to create noise and trouble to distract from intelligent debate about the issue. The public needs to be educated about healthcare and what alternatives there are to the ever increasing costs of the health care system.

I urge people to contact their congressional representatives (Congressional Switchboard: (202)224-3121) and ask them to fight for health care reform that will rein in cost and provide a public health insurance option that will compete with the insurance companies that currentl have a stranglehold on the system.

Together we can!

If you haven't already seen it (I bet it's on YouTube somewhere), check out the town hall meeting that was hosted by Sen. Barney Frank in Mass. There was a woman standing at the microphone, slamming the senator for supporting the president's healthcare reform. She asks, "Why are you supporting this Nazi policy?" Frank responds: "On what planet do you spend most of your time?" He then calls her approach "vile, contemptible nonsense"  and points out that she's holding a photo of President Obama with a Sharpee-drawn little Hitler mustache. The TV cameras there caught it plain as day & the woman ended up looking silly! Barney concluded his response to the woman by telling her: "Trying to have a conversation with you would be like arguing with a dining room table." I mean, it's great to have opposing views and they should be voiced. But there is definitely some kind of mission to go to these town hall meetings and just disrupt. Some politicians have decided to stop holding the meetings because of this & that doesn't help anyone or any side of the issue. Btw, can you imagine if someone put a Hitler mustache on a photo of President Bush during his administration and during a town hall gathering? That person would have been all over FOX News and Rush as being the most un-patritotic person in America! There would have been no end to the insults lodged against someone had it been done during the Bush administration. Oh well, still hoping that something good will come out of all this debate. It is the closest we've ever gotten to some kind of resolution. Just have to wait & see, though yes, calling our representatives and letting them know our opinions is a great way to have a voice in the issue. Actually, that's one of the of the best aspects of living in this country. However, it's really too bad that no one wants to listen -- perhaps there's a solution out there, but there's so much "noise" that we'll never hear it!

I agree! most people don't even know what they're protesting, either. They take whatever MISinformation they can and run with it.
