iPhone

Okay. I'm a huge fan of technology. I'm one of those that has to have the new tech stuff when it first launches, but with this iPhone, I don't know. Whew!!! Now, I haven't picked one up...yet, but I really really want one. I don't know how many of you out there are in love with technology like myself, but i am no longer a Widows guy. Apple is my drug of choice. Those of you that know tech know exactly what I'm talking about. Well, just yesterday I stopped by a Cingular store to check out the iPhone. I had just finished interviewing for a new position at KCSOS so I was professionally dressed. I'm thinking that's why the Cingular staff was so quick to help (they must have thought I had money to burn dressed like that because I know if I would've walked in dressed down, I wouldn't have gotten such quick service).

That phone is awesome and I want it so bad, but the only reason I haven't forked out the $600 to buy it is because I'm locked into a contract with T-Mobile until about next October. If I had the cash, I would definitely cancel my contract and go with Cingular, but sadly I'm poor. I'm might start a "Help Me Get An IPhone Fund." If you'd like to contribute, let me know. :)

Oh! I also found out that as a KCSOS employee, I am eligible for a discount on my monthly Cingular phone bill (if I switch over) of about 15%. All of you with Cingular should find out if you are entitled to a discount. It might save you over $100 per year. Check it out.

Well, that's my whining for the week. If I end-up getting one, I'll probably post it up here because I'll be so excited like if I was an eight year old on Christmas.

Guess who will be getting refunds for their overpriced phones?

Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs apologized and offered $100 credits Thursday to customers who shelled out $599 for the most advanced model of the iPhone this summer, only to have the company unexpectedly slash the price $200 in a push to boost holiday sales.

Internet speed is pretty fast. It runs on the EDGE network, which is pretty common across all carriers. AT&T is capable of running at a faster 3G network, but it wastes more battery life and costs more, so faster speed comes at its price. Now, the iPhone, at the moment, is Wi-Fi compatible, which is as fast as your home network (broadband) connection.

I think I read somewhere that the iPhone has everything they need for bluetooth on the hardware side, they just need to send an update OTA to access that feature. The update is free and will be available when Apple wants it to be available. I know that the iPhone 2 will be better, but with so many iPhones still selling and so many OTA updates still coming down the wire, i don't think the iPhone 2 will come out anytime soon. BUT... I could be very wrong about how soon the iPhone 2 comes out. So, we'll see what happens.

That's what my friend said too. Which is why I'm gonna wait till she gets the new one so I can buy her "old" one! I think with this being the first generation of iPhones, the next one they are going to make improvements and upgrade some stuff (the internet speed being one of them, and the ability to "send" pictures through bluetooth is another one) As of now, I think both of those are lacking. The internet is fast, but not as fast as other phones. And I can't remember if it's bluetoothing pictures, or emailing them? But you can't do one or the other. Right now she has to plug her phone into her computer to get her pictures downloaded.

I had no idea that a less expensive model was coming out next year. I'm sure it's not going to be a full fledged iPhone. It has to be a watered-down version or something. Something like what the iPod Nano is to the iPod. We'll see. I know that September 5th, Apple is holding some huge event on new iPods and stuff. Most people think that the touch screen iPod is finally stepping into the light. Maybe a new iPhone announcement might show it's face as well, but I doubt it. The first gen iPhone is still too new. Maybe an update to the current iPhone.

Ahhh!!! All this talk is making me want the phone already!

Hold off on those iPhone wishes! -- didn't you hear? Next year's model will cost about half the price as the first generation ones -- hey, $300 is still expensive for a phone, but you know the next ones Apple comes out with will be even better and at half the price. The same thing happened when the iPods first came out, too. So just hold off until next year.

I want the iPhone too. I am actually really happy with my Sony Ericsson but it's old and they don't make that style anymore. I like the size because the smaller phones are uncomfortable to hold for me. So the next phone I get will probably be an iPhone. I'm just gonna wait till my friend gets tired of hers, which she will in about a year. ha. I can wait if it means getting it cheaper!
